3 kids were drowned in a pond during a religious ceremony organized at a pond located in Putari, Maheshpur of the district. The ceremony was organized at the bank of the pond for drowning the idols of God Krishna after offering puja to them. Two boys and a girl of the same locality lost their lives in the incident reported police inspector Laldhawaj Subedi.

The Acting committee of Nepali Congress will convene today at 11 am for finalizing its policies and programs. During the meeting, the remaining members will comment on the policies and programs. Central Committee member Uma Regmi informed that after studying and discussion the draft of policy and programs, the meeting will be presented in the General Convention of the party for formally endorsing it. She further expressed her optimism that the draft will be finalized by today.

CPN ML general secretary C P Mainali claimed that the Maoist had offered 5 crore rupees for supporting its Prime Ministerial candidate Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Mainali disclosed the fact at a program in Bhaktapur today. He claimed that after his refusal to accept the bribe the party was disintegrated into two. In the latest development on the Prime Ministerial run off, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal president Upendra Yadav has stated that the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) would not support United CPN Maoist in the sixth round of Prime Ministerial election on September 5 until it expressed commitment for fulfilling the prerequisite forwarded by UDMF in its minimum consensus proposal.

Sadikshya Shrestha has been crowned the Miss Nepal 2010 title amid a glittering ceremony held at the Tribhuvan Army Officers' Club in Kathmandu Wednesday evening. The 19-year-old ISc student clinched the much-anticipated title by outstripping other 17 beauties. Giving continuity to the tight security policy in the capital, the police authorities nabbed a criminal gang for their involvement in various robberies and extortionist. The police reported that they had nabbed four persons along with their vehicles for demanding ransom from KMC-10, Baneshwor resident Preetam Rai. The persons are identified as Daba Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Angrchiring Sherpa, Angdaba Sherpa.

The ongoing Central Committee (CC) meeting of the Unified CPN Maoist will continue tomorrow also. The proposers-- Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairmen Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya Kiran-- will defend their report after all cc members finish commenting tomorrow. So far in the eight day long CC meeting most of the members have stressed on the need of merging three reports for drawing up a new strategy for leading the party informed Maoist spokesperson Dinnanath Sharma to press personals. While some members have stressed on the need of "initiating a retaliatory revolution against anti-nationalist sentiments and foreign encroachment in the national affairs".

Finance Secretary Rameshwor Prasad Khanal claimed that the government could bring full budget even before presenting the policy and programs. While clarifying that Constitution did not obstructed the government to do so, he informed that the quarter budget released earlier would only sustain till October and added that there was no constitutional process to bring another quarter budget. He claimed that the budget could be presented within ten days.
