KATHMANDU: Maoist leader Prakash today said that the government headed by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was fast facing a countdown before it collapses to pave way for a Maoist led national government.

"The countdown has started. We now know that the Madhav Kumar Nepal led government is well and truly on its way out," Prakash said while speaking at an interaction session organized earlier on in the day by Reporters Club Nepal.

Saying that the goverment has come up after compromising the supremacy of the civilian forces over the defense establishment, he said that it will come down owing to internal contradiction. "There is no ground for its survival."

He stressed the view that the Maoists will next lead a government of national unity and uphold civilian supremacy over the army. "It is real and the homework has already got underway," Prakash said following the end of the protracted politburo meeting of the UCPN-Maoist.
