KATHMANDU: The meeting of the top leaders of the three main political parties which was scheduled today for a possible breakthrough in overcoming the continued disruption of the proceedings of the legislative constiutent assembly and inability to reverse the supremacy of the army over the civilian establishment has been postponed to tomorrow.
The meeting has been postponed with the Maoist leader Prachanda flying to Chitwan and Maoist leaders telling the other party leaders that the meeting be "postoned."
Today's meeting was planned following the meeting of the 22 parties in the constituent assembly which had yesterday given a mandate to the three major parties the CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist and the NC to talk up the issue.
While the Maoists have been disrupting the proceedings of the legislative constiutent assembly stressing the need to establish supremacy of the civilian establishment over the army by sacking chief of army staff, other two parties have been backing the army, which had led to the longstanding political crisis.
The meeting has got underway in the capital a short while ago, with the CPN-UML moving a new formulaic approach to win over the Maoists.
