KATHMANDU: Maoist leader Mohan Baidya today claimed that the efforts were underway to impose president's rule in the country. He said this while speaking at an interaction session at the Reporters Club Nepal.
"A section of the Nepali Congress and K P Oli of the CPN-UML are up to it. Oli is in India with the same agenda on hand,'Baidya said, adding that those who are presenting themselves as democrats are trying to finish democracy.
He also said that since the Indian media is presenting the incumbent government as pro-Indian, it says everything about the Nepal led government. He insisted that the government should step down fortwith.
He also said that the legislative constituent assembly will not be allowed to function until and unless Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal does not come up with a statement that upholds civilian supremacy over the army.
He however hastened on to add that his party has decided to stick to politics of reconciliation by giving continuity to pressure tactics. "The government will pave way for the one led by Maoists."
He also said that the next government could be led by anyone from among Baburam Bhattarai, Prakash, Dev Gurung or even Krishna Bahadur Mahara. He however suggested that Prachanda should be in the army integration committee.
NC leader Ram Sharan Mahat said that there was no way why the incumbent government must bow out.
