KATHMANDU: Today is March 8 or --- better still --- International Working Women's Day. Importantly the day is being observed as the centenary of its first celebration.
The slogan for the day is " Equal Rights & Equal Opportunity".
Much like globally the day is being observed in Nepal by government and non-governmental agencies with those working for women leading the show.
The main show is being orchestrated by Ministry of Women and Social Welfare with others joining the rally with political parties and their representatives pitching in.
Meanwhile the women's wing of the UCPN-Moaist is organizing an impressive rally. "We are planning to draw the participation of one hundred thousand women today," said Jai Puri Gharti, who heads the women's wing of the UCPN-Maoist.
Prachanda is scheduled to address the rally at Open Air Theatre. Similar event is planned by women's wing of the CPN-UML and Congress too.
The CPN-UML leader Jhala Nath Khanal will be addressing the rally.
