POKHARA: Speaker Subas Nembang today claimed that it was still possible to wangle the new constitution if the parties really brace for it and attend the task of finalizing the thematic drafts.
He said this while speaking at a function in the town earlier today. “There are serious differences on the thematic drafts but nothing is impossible if the parties sit down to it,” Nembang said.
He also said that the constituent assembly was now revising the timeline to draft and promulgate the new constitution on Tuesday. He however came up with the rider that the remainder of the time will have to be devoted to the task of drafting the new constitution.
Nembang also said that the constitution can be promulgated even if the parties do not come to consensus on a single draft. He said that the necessary changes can be affected through constitutional amendments.
He ruled out that the issue of army integration can be expected to affect the promulgation of the new constitution since the interim constitution does not say anything on it.
