CIVIL SOCIETY STEPS UP PRESSURE ON PARTIES ON CONSTITUTION
March 09 2010

KATHMANDU: The civil society leaders today sensitized  the political parties on the need to wangle the new constitution. The appeal has come on a day when 25 parties in the constituent assembly have today decided to jointly chase the agenda of wangling the constitution at the end of a meeting today.

The claim has come from Nilambar Achary who heads the constitutional committee. Meanwhile Prachanda has ruled out early constitution reacting to the plan to wangle a pro tem constitution.

“There is no need to panic but the reality is the constitution cannot come at its current rate,” he said while coming out of the meeting venue. He said that there was possibility of fresh talks on state restructuring.

Civil society has warned that rather than involving in  a stampede the parties must concentrate on the agenda of wangling the constitution. Devendra Raj Pandey and Shyam Shrestha among others appealed for early endorsement of criminal court.

They are next planning a round the clock vigil in a week.
