KATHMANDU: The government failed to put an end to the row surrounding the appointment of a new governor, with partisan stances in the cabinet ruling out consensus on any one candidate,
"We could not decide since all the contenders for the job Yuvraj Khatiwada, Bir Bikram Rayamajhi, Rameswor Khanal still remain in contention," said Law Minister Prem Bahadur Singh after the meeting.
However the cabinet was consensus on endowing a fund to award outstanding journalist every year. It also endorsed guideline for the formation of a fund to pay out cash incentives to journalists affected by conflict.
In yet another decision the cabinet has decided to have some incentive for civil servants at the lowest rung. The cabinet has also extended the term of the commission formed to identify martyrs.
