ARMY SEEKS BILLIONS TO FUND STRATEGIC PLAN:REPORTS

KATHMANDU, MARCH 11: The army has demanded  Rs 118 billion to fund its  Ten-Year Strategic Plan which among other includes procurement of at least two aircraft, over a dozen choppers and Armed Personnel Carriers, it is learned.

It is over and above the annual. The government had allocated Rs 15.31 billion for the current fiscal year. The budget if conceded will add up to 7 percent of total outlay. The plan is all about boosting the capacity.

 

The plan which was presented at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday also involves building two army airfields and installation of  air traffic control. Finance Minister Surendra Pandey has confirmed the latest development saying there has not been any commitment.

Army spokesperson Brig General Ramindra Chhetri said the plan was aimed at improving quality, mobility and services as well as boosting the morale of the army, media has reported.
