KATHMANDU: As many as 8 tarai centric outfits have announced stir demanding  multiple federal states in the tarai. Leading the Tharu outfits is the Tharu Kalayankari Sabha which organized a press conference at the Reporters Club Nepal.

Under the new protest program the outfits have planned a torch rally on Saturday which will be followed by generaal strike in tarai on Sunday. The leaders of the outfit have lamented that while the corresponding hilly region has 12 provinces the entrie tarai that has half the population is federated into two provinces.

They lashed out at the parties which have conspired to limit the provinces in tarai on the prompting of certain political brokers. The outfits are demanding say of tharu communities challenging what are called Madheshis.
