What have you been doing lately?
I've been involved with a few programs and besides that I've been doing songs for my new album but I'm not sure when it'll be complete!

Any other thing besides music?
Nothing specific! But I am involved in some social works. I'm working for Youth Federation For World Peace and an executive member as well. I've also been doing a radio show for Radio BFBS for the past 3 years.

Now a common question that I normally ask all female singers; what do you think is the reason behind the decreasing volume of album sales of female artists?
It's true that album sales of female artists are low. It might be because music companies don't take much initiative and that they give more priority to male singers. Listeners should also encourage female singers. In this regard Kunti didi (Kunti Moktan) is an exception. Her album sells are high and we are happy for her.

How difficult is it for a female singer to become popular?
I think it's easy for female singers to be popular because there is less competition. But it's only easy to be popular but hard to generate some income and earn a livelihood. Basically artists earn by performing at shows and we can witness the negative trends of people being communal and they distinguish artists by their caste and which communities they come from for shows, which is not good at all. This may sow the seeds of communal disharmony and frustrate good musicians.

It's said that you know all the tricks on how to grab attention; like doing your album release ceremonies in a different way, what say?
It's not about tricks. I just want to do things in a different way. I do something that's amusing! I believe in trying.

I was very impressed with her album 'Mantra'. We used to meet quite often and even go to watch movies together. Later we became great friends. It's been quite a while that we haven't met because she has been very busy. She is doing a good job and I hope and wish she can always maintain the image that she has been able to create.

As a listener, how do you find the songs of Nalina Chitrakar?
As a general listener I like the songs. She is not an excellent singer but not bad either. I find her to be an average singer. She sings 'jolly' numbers. I've been getting 95% positive feedbacks. I don't know if people just praise me in front of me.

The music industry these days are not very positive about the future. Companies say that it's because of piracy, what is your opinion on this?
Piracy is definitely one of the biggest reasons. Companies need to understand what kind of albums and music deserves to be produced and brought out into the market. They should move ahead with a concrete vision and schemes!

I'd like to talk about a different topic now. How do you perceive your 'New Nepal' to be?
In these circumstances, I can't think of anything. It's very hard to dream in this situation because things are getting complicated day by day. A lot of things still need to be done here. If responsible people work with a clean heart and positive feelings, Nepal is a small place and we can make it beautiful again in no time!

Will you be casting your vote at the Constitutional Assembly elections?
I haven't voted in the past and I'll think about it when the Constitutional Assembly election actually happens. But in fact I'm not excited to cast my vote. I don't think my vote will make any difference.

If the PM, Girija Prasad Koirala grants you 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
First of all he should promise me that he shall fulfill my wishes. The first thing I would ask him would be to emphasize on education...practical education system. Even educated people behave in an uncivilized manner. And the second thing I would ask would be to enforce law and order strictly. The last thing I would ask would be to ensure respect for artists. They should be treated well by the government while they are still alive.

You would you like to see your son as in the future?
I want to see him as a good human being who treats all equally well and respects others! That's all I desire.

Many of your contemporaries and singers have settled abroad. What is your opinion on it?
It's the matter of personal choice. Some might have their own problems for going abroad and some might want to experience something different. But I think it's better to live in your own country rather than living somewhere else as a second class citizen!

No where in the world is a P3 visa rejected but here! What do you think is the reason?
It's indeed a sad thing. It's all because of us. Because of the foolhardy ness of a few people, others are suffering. It's a shameful thing. But embassies also should go through more details of the applicants while issuing them with their visas.

What do you do during your 'fursad'?
I watch films but am very selective with the ones that I watch. I meet friends and play with my son most of the time!
